Improving UK Construction with Technology (2019)

Improving UK Construction with Technology Dissertation – The construction industry is a highly complex industry that employs a vast range of professionals from different expertise to work in sync with one another to produce different shapes and sizes of residential, commercial, industrial and infrastructure buildings. For years there have been inefficiencies causing projects to be late, over budget and not to the required design.

The aim of this dissertation will be to demonstrate and present the progress that has been made in the UK construction industry, as well as outlining how the industry should harness modern technologies in order to revolutionise the planning, execution and delivery of our building programmes. There are excellent ideas for outstanding technologies to have a place in construction such as 3D printing, however, the industry is notable to utilise this type of technology in its current state.).

Therefore, objective of this paper will be for both VR (Virtual Reality) and Drones incorporated with BIM (Building Information Modelling) to be viewed as a method for sealing the gap in the industry. At a local level, our own building contractors will provide evidence of their operational processes, which will elucidate an understanding of the nature, limitations and aspirations of these individuals in pursuit of an answer to the question, can the integration of drones and VR with building information modelling modernise the UK construction industry.
