The way we teach and learn today is constantly changing mainly due to technological advances, in particular with the introduction of the Internet. The Internet’s rapid growth and development has had a clear impact to teaching and learning. Firstly with the introduction of personal computers, then the advance into distance learning, this has allowed recent features of the web to be used in the education sector. These features are known as integrated systems for example Virtual Learning Environments (VLE). These advances in technology have been noticed by many educational institutes and importantly higher educational institutes have also taken notice. Based on the responses, online learning at this current time particularly in traditional universities is an effective tool but is not adequate enough to replace the conventional tool for learning. To conclude this report shows that there are a number of advantages to online learning but the issues that arise from implementing this new way of learning and the opinions of the people that it affects are not as forthcoming to this advance between technology and learning.
