The Impact of Authentic Leadership on Employee Innovative Work Behaviour: Analysis of The UK Hospitality Sector (2022)

The primary aim of this study is to examine the relationship between authentic leadership and employee innovative work behaviour in the context of hospitality market of the UK. This study used random sampling technique and data is collected from 220 employees working in the hospitality sector of the UK. The model is tested using correlation coefficient and regression analysis through SPSS 23.0.

The findings of the study indicated that authentic based leadership has a positive and significant relationship with the employee innovative work behaviour and promotes employee innovative work attitude by focusing on trust, assistance, respect, open mindedness, motivation and inspiration as the key elements of authentic leadership style that helps employees share ideas and innovative decisions.

Under leader member exchange relationship theory, the findings of this study support that when a mutual trust is developed between leaders and employees and both parties agree to trust each other abilities and skills, share ideas, discuss with each other and show integrity and respect to each other; it results in more creativity and innovative work behaviour of employees. This dissertation offers insightful and valuable implications to the hospitality market of the UK, its managers and regulators who wants to bring innovativeness in their employees and improve overall organisational productivity.
