Women in Business: A Systematic Literature Review (2019)

The rapid changes witnessed in the 21st century presents a myriad of opportunities and challenges to women in business. Notably, women entrepreneurship is a trendy phenomenon on the rise despite the challenges that businesswomen face. However, there is a deficit on information available on various aspects affecting women in business. Therefore, the extant study aimed at exploring women in business to comprehend the motivational factors influencing women to venture in business and their challenges. The researcher employed a systematic review to garner data from previous studies on women entrepreneurship.

The findings of the eight reviewed showed that women in business face innumerable challenges. Nevertheless, the reviewed findings identified several motivational factors for women in business. Study review showed that the future of women entrepreneurship was riddled with opportunities. Lastly, the researcher sums up the study with recommendations for policy, practice and research regarding women in business. The study focused on the contributions of female gender in economic development. Academics argue that a study was essential to find out how women entrepreneurial skills could be used for a sustainable economy in developing nation. The extant research was supported to examine the role played by women in entrepreneurship and the challenges they face in current society (Susruthan and Priyadharshany, 2018). Finally, the research entails the discovery of the measures to curb the challenges women encounter in business to enable successful economic growth.
