Management of Remote Workforce in the Post-Covid-19 Period: Challenges of Retaining Office Workforce Commitment and Engagement (2022)

Remote Workforce Covid-19 Dissertation – The COVID-19 pandemic enabled companies to experience a huge sudden change of workplace design, behaviour and the adoption of remote working. The aim of this dissertation study is to explore the effect of COVID-19 on the employee remote workplace context and the management of such employees in the UK, and to understand the extent job commitment and engagement due to the uncertain working conditions have influenced employees.

In the given study, secondary data collection is used as the most appropriate data collection source and analyse the content provided on how remote workers are managed in the post-COVID-19 period and adopted a search strategy using external sources and includes surveys (conducted by third party) related to organisations that have adopted remote work nature due to COVID-19.

The findings of the study shows that lockdown had a significant impact on the lives of people and their working activities, despite that many workers continued struggling but a range of issues like work-life balance, child management, family commitments, time management issues continued to rise.

For this reason, findings also showed that the human resource departments should use weekly alignment sessions, teams meet-up, whole team gathering in which there are video conferencing for lunch, short game sessions, informal meetings and contents like TED talks, online courses, communication activities, and focus on the outcomes of the deadlines.

The aim of this dissertation study is to explain the effect of COVID-19 on the employee remote workplace context and the management of such employees in the UK and understand the extent job commitment and engagement due to the uncertain working conditions have influenced employees.
