The Use of Training and Development as Effective Tools for Enhancing Innovation and Performance – A Study of Tesco Plc (2014)
Training and Development Programs at Tesco Dissertation – This dissertation has focused on evaluating the impact of training and development on staff performance and overall performance of the firm. It is a known fact that training is development is one of the most important functions of HR and effective training and development activities are important for enhanced organisational performance. At present, employers’ return on investment in employees training is gaining higher magnitude regarding the output of human capital investment, the output of these investments is revealing in form of performance improvements in the total performance of organisations.
Training and development involves employees’ development and employees’ development results in changes behaviours, skills and learning and therefore, training and development is a part of social sciences that has evaluated in this study. The researcher has used both primary and secondary data collection methods in order to collect the information for research purpose. Interview and survey method has been used as a primary data collection method and secondary data has been collected with the help of books and academic journals.
The outcomes of the research shows that training and development is important for organisations of all types and for TESCO which is operating in the retail industry, the management is required to formulate effective strategies in order to ensure that employees are trained according to the organisational standards. This will help the organisation to provide better services to the customers and improve the organisational outcomes. The aim of this study is to assess the internal environment factor contributes towards organisational performance to assess training and development programs’ frequency of implementation and importance of training and development in employees’ operational efficiency.
The role of training and development in strategic decision making to create competitive quality will be analysed in Tesco to investigate the current approaches to employee retention and employee development. Following are the objectives of this study:
- To explore the role of training and development in performance of Tesco PLC.
- To evaluate the current strategies of Tesco to invest in employees development programs.
- To develop a policy for employee training and development programs – this research will contribute to input about decision in developing training and development programs that will assist Tesco PLC in advance of planning stage.
